This scheme comprised of an 86 apartment extra care building with standalone 12 apartment adult learning centre. The extra care building included communal facilities such as main kitchen, restaurant and café, lounges, library, hair salon, buggy stores, laundry and offices & meeting rooms. Renewable technology in the form of CHP generation was utilised and the project was certified as a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ building.
ESD worked for Seddon Construction as their detailed designers for this development providing detailed coordinated drawings for our Client and their sub-contractor chain.
We were also employed to provide monitoring duties during the construction stage to monitor the quality of the installation on behalf of Seddon Construction.
The scheme also included for another building, ‘Adults with Learning Difficulties’ (referred to as the ALD building) this is separate to the extra care building which comprised of 12No apartments.
Highly efficient gas fired combi boilers provided the primary heating to individual heat interface unit within each of the apartments and to communal underfloor heating manifolds. This building was also designed to achieve a BREEAM Multi Residential ’very good’ rating.
This scheme was successfully handed over in 2015.
