ESD have been commissioned by Trafford Housing Trust (THT) to provide a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) performance design for a new multi-use community facility and adjacent Church facility for the borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester.
Through this exciting project, THT aim to provide an integrated approach to social care for the community through the inclusion of an 80 apartment Extra Care facility alongside a community facilities such as a children’s nursery, cafe, hairdressers and a new GP surgery serving the local area, all to a BREEAM “Very Good” standard.
A new Church facility (St Brides) was built adjacent to the new development and ESD provided a performance M&E design for this new facility complete with Photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof and a low energy mechanically ventilated solution for the worship spaces and associated catering kitchen. This facility was successfully handed over in 2016.
Our performance design for the Extra Care facility has been based on our extensive experience in the delivery of Extra Care designs throughout our Practice for instance by ensuring that the latest warden call systems have been integrated into the design and that the Wi-Fi provision has been future proofed. We also ensured that the the GP facilities have been designed to the latest NHS HTM standards for compliance.
Following the completion of our performance design for the Shrewsbury Street development, we are continuing to represent THT in the delivery of the project through the construction stage with a completion date set for summer 2017.
