ESD were an integral part of the design team for the Belong Morris Feinmann care village which was handed over in June 2017.
The village, located in West Didsbury, Manchester, replaced an existing care facility for Jewish residents. The design had to take into account the requirement of the Jewish faith, including Shabbat controls on the lift and a larger kitchen for the separation of meat and dairy as part of the catering delivery.
The care village provides 72 en-suite bedrooms across six households on the ground, first and second floor and independent living provision on the third floor in a mix of 13 one or two bedroomed apartments.
The household bedrooms include a dementia nurse call system in each bedroom linked across the WI-FI network to mobile handsets to provide full integration for staff of nurse call, door access, fire alarms and care apps. This call system also links throughout the communal areas, apartments and external gardens.
As part of ESD’s continuing and long-standing working relationship with the Belong team, the Morris Feinmann project follows on from projects successfully completed over a 10 year period in Macclesfield, Wigan, Atherton, Crewe and Warrington.
